PSA: Important News for Opportunity Zones (OZ)
The State Department of Business, Economic, Development and Tourism (DBEDT) is hosting a series of events for the various stakeholders of Opportunity Zones (OZ). Please check out the new DBEDT website for more information on the OZ, view a map of Hawaii’s OZ, and a list of upcoming OZ events.
DBEDT is looking for OZ projects which have a positive community impact and are investment ready to share with OZ Funds looking to invest in Hawaii’s OZ. To be included on the list, the OZ business or OZ business property owner/developer needs to attend a HI OZ Investment Ready Workshop and then complete a HI OZ Executive Summary for their Business or Project.
Hawaii Community Reinvestment Corporation (HCRC) is working with DBEDT on facilitating the HI OZ Investment Ready Workshops. There will be workshops on Kauai, Maui, Hawaii Island, and Oahu in the next several months. There is no cost to attend the workshops, but there are some business requirements.
Requirements to attend HI OZ Investment Ready workshop:
• Business Owner or Business Property Owner/Developer in good standing with the State of Hawaii and County
• Physically located in an OZ or have a plan to relocate to an OZ (map of OZ available on DBEDT website)
• Have a positive community impact
• Have an interest in receiving an investment from an OZ Fund
